The ICP will enable integration (based on system-of-systems approach) and coordination of the processes of urban domains such as traffic control, pollution monitoring, energy management, or outdoor lighting, This, in turn, will account for a holistic optimization of urban processes usually covered by stand-alone and isolated ICT systems.
In the project BetterSolutions was responsible for the development of generic ICP framework components and Complex Event Detection Engine (CEDE), which provides complex event processing features to detect events in urban area (noise alerting, air pollution, and other). One of the CEDE applications (Complex Event Detection Engine) is the processing of data on the traffic in the city in order to detect congestions and traffic jams.
BetterSolutions has also provided City Activity Stream (CAS) application, which will serve as information exchange channel for citizens, authorities, and ACCUS cyber-physical environment.
Mobile versions (iOS and Android) of the application will enable city inhabitants to report incidents (such as illegal garbage dumps clutter or hole in the road) and to receive messages from ACCUS on the situation in the city.
The results of the project have been demonstrated as part of the pilot installation of ACCUS ICP in Gdansk in January 2016.
